Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed his condolences to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Uko Udom, SAN, and his family over the death of his eldest brother, Evangelist (Dr.) Ebong Udom.
Evangelist Udom reportedly died recently following a brief illness.
Governor Eno conveyed his condolences on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, through a delegation of members of the State Executive Council led by the Commissioner for Internal Security, General Koko Essien (Rtd.), which visited the bereaved family at their country home in Asuna, Etinan.
The Governor described the deceased as a humble, kind-hearted and community-minded man whose passing had created a painful vacuum in his family and the wider society.
According to him, the late Evangelist Udom was a devoted Christian and a moral pillar whose life of service to humanity left indelible footprints worthy of remembrance.
Delivering the Governor’s message, General Essien said the delegation was at the family home to identify with them and offer support at a difficult moment.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, and members of the State Executive Council, we are here to stand with you in this moment of grief. We pray that God will grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Essien said.
He also commended Barrister Uko Udom for his commitment to public service, urging him and other members of the family to draw strength from the Governor’s prayers and support.
Responding, the Attorney General thanked Governor Eno and the members of the State Executive Council for the condolence visit, describing the gesture as a source of comfort to the family.
“I am deeply touched by this visit. Thank you, Your Excellency, for standing with us at this difficult time,” Udom said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Ibom Air, Captain Mfon Udom, who spoke on behalf of the family, described the Governor’s visit as soothing and expressed appreciation to him and members of the State Executive Council for identifying with the family in their period of mourning.
The visit ended with prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for divine strength, comfort and fortitude for the bereaved family.
