Uyo, Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and constituents across Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District have congratulated Senator Ekong Sampson following the confirmation of his nomination by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s candidate for the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Leading the wave of goodwill messages are two influential political figures, Rt. Hon. Francis Charles Uduyok and Rt. Hon. Bernard Ambrose Udoh, who pledged their unwavering support for Senator Sampson and all APC candidates ahead of the elections.
Rt. Hon. Uduyok, who personally endorsed Senator Sampson’s nomination form, described his emergence as well deserved and reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support for the party’s success in 2027.
A two-term member of the House of Representatives and former Chairman of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Uduyok had contested the APC senatorial primary earlier this year but voluntarily stepped down in support of Senator Sampson.
Also congratulating the senator was Otuekong Bernard Udoh, a three-term member of the House of Representatives, who hailed Sampson’s official nomination and assured him of his full backing. Udoh reiterated his commitment to working for the victory of Senator Sampson and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Beyond the political class, members of the Akwa Ibom community in Abuja and a broad cross-section of constituents across the 12 local government areas of Akwa Ibom South also celebrated the development.
A large delegation of Akwa Ibom South indigenes visited the National Assembly in Abuja to congratulate Senator Sampson following INEC’s confirmation of his candidacy. They commended his people-oriented and bridge-building representation, expressing confidence in his leadership and assuring him of their continued support at the polls.
Responding, the lawmaker, popularly known as the Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin, expressed appreciation for the overwhelming show of solidarity. He urged party faithful and constituents to remain united and work for the electoral success of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Sampson said he had ensured the equitable distribution of constituency projects across the 12 local government areas that make up Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, promising to deliver even greater dividends of democracy if re-elected.
With his confirmation by INEC as the APC senatorial candidate, Senator Sampson, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals Development, is widely regarded as a strong contender for another term in the Senate. He has earned commendation from supporters for his policy-driven and development-focused representation.
Before his election to the Senate, Sampson served as Chief Legislative Assistant to former Senate Leader, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma. He also served as Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, represented Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for two terms, and was later appointed a member of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council.
