The Federal Government has approved a new vehicle import duty and tariff structure designed to make vehicles more affordable, stimulate economic activities, and accelerate the adoption of environmentally friendly transportation across the country.
Under the revised tariff regime, the import levy on brand-new vehicles has been reduced from 20 per cent to 10 per cent, while the levy on used vehicles has been cut from 15 per cent to five per cent.
In a move aimed at promoting cleaner energy and reducing carbon emissions, the government also announced a zero import levy on electric vehicles (EVs), a policy expected to encourage greater investment in sustainable mobility and expand the use of electric-powered automobiles nationwide.
