The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Paul Bassey, has expressed profound gratitude to God for the sustained peace, unity and stability being enjoyed across Akwa Ibom State amid the political and economic challenges confronting many parts of the country.
Speaking during a solemn worship service at The Apostolic Church Nigeria on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Sports Commissioner described the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the state as a manifestation of divine mercy and preservation.
Elder Bassey noted that while several states in the federation continue to grapple with insecurity, political tension, economic hardship and social unrest, Akwa Ibom has remained calm, united and development-focused.
According to him, the relative peace and cohesion in the state should not be taken for granted, stressing that the people must continually appreciate God for His faithfulness and protection over the state and its leadership.
The Commissioner, who also serves as an Elder in the church, commended the administration of Governor Umo Eno for what he described as visionary and people-oriented leadership that has continued to reposition Akwa Ibom for sustainable growth and prosperity.
He highlighted several achievements of the administration, including ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects, rural development initiatives, improvements in healthcare delivery, educational support programmes, agricultural investments, tourism promotion, youth and women empowerment schemes, as well as strategic investments in sports development.
Elder Bassey further applauded Governor Eno’s commitment to peace-building, inclusive governance and unity, noting that the stable and secure environment in the state has continued to attract meaningful development and improve the living conditions of the people.
He urged citizens and residents of the state to remain steadfast in prayers and thanksgiving for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria as a whole.
The worship service featured moments of deep thanksgiving, worship and fervent prayers for the sustained advancement of both the state and the nation.
