The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South in the National Assembly, Ekong Sampson, has congratulated Assam Assam on his emergence as the Political Leader of Eket Senatorial District.
In a goodwill message, Senator Sampson expressed confidence in Assam’s capacity to provide inclusive and effective leadership, citing his extensive experience in diplomacy, law and nation-building as critical assets for advancing the unity and development of the district and Akwa Ibom State.
Sampson noted that the diversity of the senatorial district requires a leader with broad-mindedness and a deep understanding of its unique dynamics. He added that his long-standing relationship with Assam reinforces his belief in the latter’s ability to harness the district’s potential for collective progress.
“The diversity in our Senatorial District calls for leadership open to large-heartedness and a clear grasp of our peculiarity,” the lawmaker stated, expressing optimism that Assam would deploy his intellectual depth and experience to manage the district’s complexities effectively.
The senator, who holds the traditional title of ‘Onomkpoinam’ Mkpat Enin, further pledged his readiness to collaborate with the new political leader and other stakeholders to drive development across Akwa Ibom South.
“In the affairs of Akwa Ibom South, we must share a meeting point for the good of our people,” he added.
Sampson also commended Nduese Essien, Chairman of the Eket Senatorial District Elders Forum, for what he described as his courage, patriotism and integrity, noting that such values have continued to define the district’s leadership culture.
Assam, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, currently serves as Director-General of Government Business in the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
