Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has personally reassured him of the Federal Government’s commitment to the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
Governor Eno made the disclosure while speaking on the long-anticipated project, describing the president’s assurance as a major boost to the state’s economic development agenda.
According to the governor, the president had repeatedly assured him during their discussions that the Federal Government would support the establishment of the seaport, which is widely considered a strategic infrastructure capable of transforming the economic fortunes of Akwa Ibom and the Niger Delta region.
“Thank you, Mr President, for the expectation of the Ibom Deep Seaport, because many times when I discuss with him, he tells me, ‘I will give you the Ibom Deep Seaport,’” Eno stated.
The governor expressed optimism that the project would soon become a reality, noting that the seaport would position Akwa Ibom as a major maritime and commercial hub in Nigeria.
The Ibom Deep Seaport, when completed, is expected to boost maritime trade, attract foreign investments, create employment opportunities, and stimulate industrial growth in the state and beyond.
Successive administrations in the state have pushed for the realization of the project, which is seen as a key component of Akwa Ibom’s long-term economic development strategy.
Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the project.
