Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has charged young people to cultivate diligence and commitment in their daily endeavours, stressing that dedication to duty remains a key pathway to achieving success and fulfilling personal aspirations.
The Governor gave the advice during the dedication service of baby Blossom Morgan Ekanem, daughter of his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Morgan Ekanem, held at Victory Chapel, University of Uyo Township Campus in Uyo.
Speaking at the event, Governor Eno commended Ekanem for his impressive commitment and effectiveness in carrying out assignments within his administration, describing him as a dependable and diligent aide.
Quoting from the Bible, the Governor said, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men,” noting that the scripture aptly reflects Ekanem’s work ethic and dedication to service.
“We are here to celebrate a man who has shown diligence in what God has given him to do,” the Governor stated. “Morgan is doing well. He has always been there for me to get things done. He is my facilitator. If I need something done and want speed attached to it, I will just call Morgan and he would deliver as expected.”
Governor Eno therefore urged youths to distinguish themselves through excellence and hard work, emphasizing that commitment to responsibilities would naturally attract opportunities, improve livelihoods and contribute to the growth of society.
He also congratulated the Ekanem family on the birth of their daughter and prayed for God’s continued grace and blessings upon them.
In his remarks, Barrister Morgan Ekanem expressed gratitude to the Governor for honouring the family with his presence and for the opportunity given to him to serve in the administration.
Delivering the sermon titled “You and Your Mother,” drawn from the biblical text in Proverbs 31:27, Reverend Iniobong Udoh emphasized the vital role mothers play in nurturing families and shaping society.
He noted that mothers possess a natural ability to protect and guide the destinies of their children and urged fathers and children to cherish and support them for their invaluable contributions to family and societal development.
The cleric also admonished children to listen to the counsel of their mothers and encouraged families to work together in building strong and harmonious homes.
The highlight of the service was the dedication of baby Blossom Morgan Ekanem, as the parents expressed gratitude to God for His blessings upon their family.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Akon Eyakenyi; Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Helen Obareki; Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong; Chief Delivery Advisor/Executive Assistant to the Governor, Aniefiok Johnson; members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, political leaders, clergy and other government officials.
