UYO, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has charged indigenes and residents of Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, and others across the state, to actively participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) membership e-registration exercise, describing both as critical to political relevance and effective representation.
The Governor gave the charge while addressing a large gathering of APC members and supporters at his hometown, Ikot Ekpene Udo, during a visit that also featured inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in the area.
Governor Eno stressed that increased party membership at the ward level directly impacts access to party welfare, programmes, and other dividends, urging constituents to grow APC’s numerical strength to remain significant within the party structure.
“More party membership in a particular ward implies more allocation of the party’s welfare to that place. I enjoin you to step up membership numbers in order to be relevant in the party’s scheme of things,” he said.
He further underscored the importance of registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), noting that party strength without PVCs would be electorally meaningless.
“No matter how populated you are in your party, if you do not have your PVC, such population will be meaningless because your votes will not count as expected,” the Governor cautioned, urging residents to take the exercise seriously ahead of future elections.
Earlier in the day, Governor Eno inspected the ongoing 120-metre Ofriyo–Eket Bridge, the 2.5-kilometre dual carriageway linking Eket and Nsit Ubium Local Government Areas, as well as the General Hospital project in Ikot Ekpene Udo.
He appealed to the people to support the projects and other development initiatives of his administration, warning against internal conflicts that could undermine progress.
“Let us allow sustainable development into our communities. Let us use this leadership opportunity to better our lot, and not fight ourselves and miss this chance,” he said.
In his remarks, Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Hon. Charles Alfred, commended the Governor for what he described as impactful and people-oriented leadership, expressing the pride of the people in having him as their son.
Also speaking, APC State Chairman, Chief Stephen Ntukekpo, described Governor Eno as an exceptional leader whose performance has earned him respect within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
President-General of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, Engr. Uwem Okoko, lauded the Governor’s visionary leadership and infrastructural drive, urging sustained public support. He announced that Friday, January 30, 2026, had been set aside for a statewide mop-up APC e-registration exercise at ward levels.
“We will only stand a better chance to win elections if we have a huge party membership. APC must be returned to continue its people-centric development drive across the state and the nation,” Okoko stated.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; members of the State Executive Council; party leaders; captains of industry; government officials; and a cross-section of the public.
