“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (KJV).
It was a stirring reminder of the Great Commission when my dear friend and fellow kingdom laborer, Dr. Moshood Fayemiwo, PhD, returned from the United States and began preaching the Gospel boldly, not behind church walls, but in the open streets and at bus stops across Lagos, Uyo, and Port Harcourt.
His obedience to the Lord’s calling rekindled a fire in my own spirit. When he invited me to join him in this soul-winning mandate, I did not hesitate, for the fields are truly white, but the laborers remain few (John 4:35).
This movement, which we now tag as #Street2Street and #BusToBusStopEvangelism, is more than a mission, it’s a lifestyle, a divine urgency to reach the unreached where they are. Whether in marketplaces, parks, bus terminals, street corners, or even traffic jams, souls are perishing daily without Christ. And we, the redeemed, must go.
Why Street Evangelism? Jesus Christ, our Master and Model, never limited His ministry to the synagogue. In fact, most of His impact occurred on the streets, by the wayside, in villages and cities, by the sea, and on mountain paths.
In Luke 14:23, He said: “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
The streets are filled with stories. Behind every face is a soul, hungry, hurting, hopeless, needing the love and salvation that only Jesus provides. Our assignment is to go where they are, not wait for them to come to us.
A Call to Partnership: When Dr. Fayemiwo landed back on Nigerian soil, he didn’t organize a conference first. He didn’t wait for funding or support. He went to the streets. He went to the bus stops. And God went with him, confirming His word with signs following (Mark 16:20).
This is evangelism in its rawest and most powerful form, person to person, street by street, bus stop by bus stop. And now, God is raising up others to follow suit.
I thank God for the privilege of partnering with him. As a fellow evangelist and publisher of The Evangelist Newspaper, I see this not just as a movement, but as a mandate. It’s time we mobilize the Church beyond the pews and into the public spaces where Christ is rarely mentioned but deeply needed.
The Power of Personal Witness: The early Church thrived not because they had mega buildings, but because believers took the Gospel to the streets.
Acts 5:42 says: “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”
What if we returned to that kind of boldness? What if every believer took responsibility for their street, their neighborhood, their bus route?
The message of the cross must not be buried in church programs or hidden behind denominational walls. The Gospel must be declared loudly, lovingly, and consistently, where the people are.
Revival Begins with Obedience: This evangelistic fire is spreading. But we must fan the flames. The Lord is calling us back to simple, faithful obedience. To go where others fear to go. To speak when others stay silent. To shine light in the darkest corners of our society.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:14: “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Our cities, from Lagos to Uyo, Port Harcourt to every village, are crying out for hope. Let us arise and answer the call.
Conclusion: Your Street Is Your Pulpit: To every believer reading this: Your street is your pulpit. Your bus stop is your mission field. Your voice is needed now more than ever. Don’t wait for a perfect time or platform, begin where you are.
