Speaking with a Sports Recorder reporter in Uyo, the Technical officials of the Nigeria Badminton Federation have raised concerns over the suitability of facilities at the Tower of Ivory School, which had been earmarked to host an upcoming badminton competition.
During an inspection visit, the officials expressed disappointment that the space provided was merely an outdoor car park with a poorly maintained floor, describing it as unsafe and hazardous for athletes.
Following the failed inspection, officials proposed shifting the competition to Uyo Badminton Club 2020, which boasts proper indoor facilities and currently operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Stakeholders are now calling for a refund from Tower of Ivory School, so the funds can be redirected to secure the Uyo Badminton Club venue for the tournament.
The move, they say, will ensure players compete under safe and standard conditions.
