The Editorial Board of Ntakrok Magazine has unveiled strategic plans to enrich the 2025 edition of the publication with wider coverage, diverse interviews, and improved content, during its virtual meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, via the Ntakrok WhatsApp platform.
The meeting, chaired by Mr. Shearer Ukpong, centred on sourcing materials and structuring editorial content for the forthcoming edition. Members resolved to broaden the scope of interviews and features beyond political office holders to include prominent indigenes, cultural figures, entrepreneurs, and professionals from within and outside Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ukpong disclosed that an experienced consultant has been engaged to strengthen the quality of the magazine, while all board members are expected to contribute articles. He also announced the inclusion of past chairmen of the editorial team following the approval of Hon. Moses Essien, member representing Ibiono Ibom in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, who doubles as the magazine’s lead sponsor.
Speaking during the session, the International President of Ibiono Ibom Youth for Democracy and Development (IBIYODED), Prince Godwin Asanga, commended the inclusive approach adopted by the board. He pledged IBIYODED’s full support, stressing that the 12th edition would reflect higher editorial standards and wider representation. He emphasized that the magazine, which carries an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), has grown into a reputable publication beyond the local level.
The Lead Consultant, Evangelist Solomon Okpo, cautioned against turning in news-style reports, urging contributors to produce well-researched features. He promised to provide outlines to guide writers and help avoid duplication of content. He further pledged to oversee the reactivation and management of the magazine’s website at minimal cost.
Other members, including Ubong George, Stephen Uwah, Nora Inwang, and Anamati Inyang, offered suggestions ranging from securing adverts, spotlighting Ibiono Ibom’s culture and natural resources, to documenting village heads and prominent personalities. The house unanimously agreed that all inputs must be tailored within the proposed 48-page limit of the publication.
The meeting ended with renewed commitment from members to meet deadlines, secure adverts, and ensure timely submission of articles.
The 2025 edition of Ntakrok Magazine, which may be unveiled in November ahead of its traditional December launch, is expected to showcase Ibiono Ibom’s rich cultural heritage, notable personalities, government projects, and developmental strides, while providing a platform for goodwill messages and business visibility.
