The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the recovery of a stolen Toyota Camry and the arrest of a suspect in connection with the incident.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the vehicle was reported stolen on July 18, 2025, from the premises of a hospital in Abak Local Government Area, where the owner, a resident of Nto Obo 1 Midim, had parked it during a medical appointment.
The breakthrough came on July 26, 2025, when police operatives conducting a stop-and-search operation spotted the stolen car around 9:30 p.m. at Ikot Ekpene Road Main Park. The vehicle was found in the possession of one Otoabasi George Ime, who claimed he had purchased it from a car stand along Ikot Ekpene Road in Uyo.
The suspect and the vehicle have been taken into custody as discreet investigations continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the theft.
The police assured the public that diligent investigations will be carried out and the outcome made public.
