Uyo, The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another major victory in its ongoing war against violent crime, following the successful rescue of a kidnap victim earlier today, Monday, July 14, 2025.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing held at the State Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed that the victim, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, was abducted around 2:00 a.m. from his residence in Ikot Abasi.
Thanks to prompt intelligence and a swift tactical response by operatives of the Command, the victim was rescued unhurt along a road in Southern Annang before the abductors could carry out further harm.
“This rescue is a powerful reminder of what is possible when our security forces remain vigilant and committed to duty,” CP Azare stated. “The success of this operation was the result of timely intelligence, quick coordination, and the courage of those on the frontlines.”
Recovered from the suspects during the operation were:
One Browning pistol
One short machete
One Peugeot 505 car
One single leg of slippers
One Murano car key
A pullover used in covering the victim’s face
One B1 sweater
In recognition of exceptional bravery and service, CP Azare announced that commendation awards will be presented to SP Kingsley Anosike, CPL Ideba Eleng, and PC Nsikak Vincent, who played pivotal roles in the rescue operation.
While reassuring the public of the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property, CP Azare declared, “Let it be known that crime will not prevail in Akwa Ibom State. We will continue to pursue justice for victims and ensure the safety of every citizen.”
He extended the Command’s sympathy to the rescued victim and his family, acknowledging the emotional toll of the traumatic ordeal, while reiterating that the police remain ever committed to securing the state.
The arrest and ongoing investigation signal a firm message to criminal elements that Akwa Ibom remains hostile territory for crime.
