ABUJA, In recognition of his outstanding contributions to legislative duties and constituency representation, the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, has been conferred with the Outstanding Parliamentary Leadership Award by the Year 2000 set of National Assembly staff.
The prestigious award was presented during the group’s 25th Anniversary celebration held in Abuja, marking a milestone of dedicated public service.
While presenting the award, Lord Gabriel Limbeabe, Chairman of the 2000 set, described Rep. Idem as an exemplary lawmaker whose efforts in legislative oversight and constituency development have left a profound mark on the 10th National Assembly.
“This award is in recognition of your outstanding performance in legislative affairs, oversight, and impactful representation,” Limbeabe stated. “You have added immense value to the 10th Assembly, and we earnestly hope to see you return and ascend to a higher office, so more people can benefit from your sterling leadership.”
In his response, Rep. Idem expressed deep appreciation to the staff for the honour, stating that the recognition would further spur him to intensify his legislative and constituency engagements.
“I’m grateful for this gesture. It serves as both a motivation and a reminder of the responsibility I bear on behalf of my constituents and the Nigerian people,” he said.
Rep. Idem also lauded the staff of the National Assembly for their unwavering commitment to national development over the past 25 years. He urged them to utilize their remaining years in service productively and prepare wisely for retirement.
“I encourage you to consider venturing into agriculture. Beyond income generation, it will keep you active and healthy, while also aligning with the government’s drive for food sufficiency,” he advised.
The event drew attendance from members of the National Assembly, civil servants, and other dignitaries, and ended with commendations for the lawmaker’s strides in governance and public service.
