Abuja, The Presidency has debunked widespread rumours suggesting the removal of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stating categorically that there has been no change in his status.
In a statement released on Saturday, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed the reports as baseless and mischievous, clarifying that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it,” the statement read.
The Presidency urged Nigerians to disregard the “fake news” and remain cautious of propaganda designed to sow confusion in the polity.
Senator George Akume, a former governor and seasoned politician, continues to serve as the SGF under the current administration.
