A socio-political support group, Ayang (Ke Ofuri Udok), has pledged its unwavering loyalty to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as he prepares to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a symbolic show of solidarity, the group has announced the donation of 10,000 bundles of broom, the emblem of the APC, to strengthen what they describe as the “progressive movement.”
In a letter signed by Comrade Kufreobong Okon and Emgr. Etubom Inyang, the organization congratulated the governor for his bold decision to align with the progressive fold, describing it as “an enormous movement into the progressive family.”
“We the above-named organisation will always stand by you. That is why, in support of your decision, we are donating ten thousand bundles of broom to aid your supporters’ movement in a symbolic family,” the letter read.
The group further requested the governor’s presence at a press conference where the donation will be formally presented. The event is scheduled to hold shortly after the official defection ceremony, which takes place on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

The group assured the governor that the gesture is a demonstration of both moral and grassroots support, reinforcing their commitment to the APC’s ideals and the governor’s leadership.
“Our press conference will be held on a date and time to be announced immediately after the official defection ceremony,” the letter concluded.
The symbolic donation underscores the rising wave of grassroots enthusiasm surrounding Governor Umo Eno’s anticipated defection, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s political realignment.
