The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Wednesday, publicly broke down in tears as he tendered a heartfelt apology to candidates affected by errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Oloyede acknowledged the Board’s shortcomings, admitting to “one or two errors” during the conduct of the national exam, which has drawn wide concern from students, parents, and education stakeholders.
“I apologise for the trauma caused the candidates,” the visibly emotional JAMB boss stated.
While full details of the specific errors remain under review, the emotional apology signals the gravity of the situation and the pressure the board faces in managing one of Nigeria’s most crucial academic assessment processes.
