Eket LG Begins Verification for Student Bursary/Grants Disbursement

As part of its ongoing commitment to educational support, the Eket Local Government Authority has commenced document verification for the disbursement of bursary and grants to students of Eket origin studying in various tertiary institutions.

The exercise, which began on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, entered its third day today, April 24. A visit by Bubblesnews to the Council premises revealed a large turnout of students from higher institutions within Akwa Ibom State, all eager to participate in the process.

The verification is being carried out under the supervision of Hon. Daniel Sampson, the Council’s Supervisor for Education. He is being supported by fellow Supervisors, Prince Ekanem Edohoeket (Lands) and Hon. Emmanuel Otu (Internal Security), to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise.

Students are required to present the following documents: a Certificate of Origin, Admission Letter, Fee Clearance Card or School Fees Receipt, and their Bank Account Details.

While the turnout has been impressive, there is concern that students schooling outside the State may be unable to participate due to the absence of an online verification portal, potentially limiting their access to the bursary.

This bursary initiative is a fulfillment of the campaign promises made by the Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Mkpisong Akan Tommey Ikott, aimed at easing the financial burden on students and promoting academic excellence.
