As Akwa Ibom prepares to host the inaugural Niger Delta Games, Governor Pastor Umo Eno has assured athletes of his administration’s commitment to rewarding those who win medals for the state.

During an impromptu visit to the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) in Ikot Ada Idem, Ibiono Ibom LGA, the governor encouraged the athletes to give their best and bring pride to the state.

“We cannot host this event and not win medals. For every Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal, there will be a reward. I will receive you immediately after the games and ensure that winners are rewarded,” he assured.

Governor Eno praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for organizing the event, emphasizing that it would not only promote sports tourism but also help in discovering talents for national and international competitions.

Over 300 athletes will represent Akwa Ibom in 17 sports categories at the Niger Delta Games, scheduled to take place from April 1 to 9 across different venues in the state.
