The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon. Uko Umoh, has commended Governor Umo Eno for his efforts in revamping the once-moribund state-owned paint industry in the local government area.
Speaking after inspecting the factory, Hon. Umoh praised the governor’s business-driven approach, expressing confidence that the revived Ibom Paint Limited will function optimally for the benefit of the people.
“This paint industry is one of the oldest in Nigeria with a global reputation. Reviving it will put Etinan on the industrial map of the country and attract significant opportunities for our people,” he stated.
The chairman assured that the Etinan Local Government Council would provide necessary support to ensure the factory’s smooth operation.
Conducting the chairman around the facility, the Delivery Advisor to the Governor on Ibom Paint Limited, Hon. Ime Uwah, revealed that the former Peacock Paint has undergone a comprehensive rebranding, including a name change to Ibom Paint Limited.
According to Uwah, the revamped plant—set for commissioning in April 2025—will produce up to three million liters of paint annually, focusing on industrial and marine coatings.
“Our goal is to dominate the paint market within the state and beyond, especially in the oil and marine sectors,” Uwah noted.
During the inspection, the chairman was taken around key sections of the factory, including the offices, warehouses, canteen, green area, and a planned solar farm that will power the plant’s operations.
